Sometimes Shop

over the weekend I visited a really great holiday pop-up shop in Greenpoint featuring one of my favorite artists, Leah Reena Goren (and fell in love with some others in the process). the Sometimes Holiday Pop-Up Shop is unfortunately now over, but this group of artists hosts pop-ups throughout the year, and also I just wanted to show off the work of some really talented local artists. I found out about the shop through Leah Goren's instagram, and knew I would be able to cover nearly all of my holiday shopping needs. her cat dress is a staple in my wardobe, but she also makes beautiful ceramics and knitwear. the shop features the work of eight different local women, many of whom share studio space and went to art school together. their work fits perfectly together and it makes for one gorgeous shop. i went with the intention of only getting presents, but I couldn't help but pick up a piece or two for myself (see: CAT PLATE).

Closing out my Open Tabs...

1) Emily Sugihara, the CEO of Baggu, did a studio tour and no surprise, it's cute as can be.

2) i've had this recipe for Montreal Style Bagels by Bleubird bookmarked for a long time and i think i might finally be brave enough to try it. i know nothing about baking bread but am eager to learn... i'll report back with the results!

3) my boy wrote an Open Letter to Charles Manson re: his questionable decision to marry a young lady who would actually marry him, and it's great.

4) finally, my favorite thing i've found on the internet this week (or ever?). this photographer, Ivan Kislov, has been taking photos of some really amazing foxes and other wildlife in a remote region of Russia, and i love them (the photos and the critters) with my whole heart. this Huffington Post article has some of the greatest hits, but feel free to peruse his whole collection on his website.

Etsy Finds

1) i recently ordered these tiny, delicate and best of all inexpensive (!) gold stacking rings from Burdees Shop, based out of Louisville, KY. i wear them all the time!

2) when browsing around on Etsy, i am often reminded that you don't need much of a reason at all to send the people you love a card in the mail. a super cute Thanksgiving greeting card? why not, right??

3) i've loved the Rifle Paper Co. Travel America calendar we've had up in 2014. now i'm in the market for a great one for 2015, and this Ello There beauty caught my eye...

4) these sweet Day of the Week Pencils make me want to take up JOURNALING again like the angsty teen i once was.

5) Nate and i saw Interstellar last night and i truly loved it and would happily talk about it at length with anyone who's interested. HOWEVER, i just know i have some scary lost-in-a-black-hole dreams coming my way some night soon, because that's the way my subconscious works. this perfect triangular dreamcatcher just might be the solution...

Holiday Wreaths, etc.

I was looking through My Pins today for some inspiration and I noticed that I am completely obsessed with holiday wreaths right now. it just sort of snuck up on me I guess? but my entire "holiday" pinboard is made up of photos of wreaths or various other pine needle decor. we got our tree a couple weeks ago and decorated it with the sweetest lights ever (it's a tiny little potted Norfolk Pine... perhaps we'll keep it year round? is that weird?), but I've been holding out on buying a wreath for the apartment because I'd really like to make my own this year. if all goes according to plan, i'll have a post in the next week or two about my wreath DIY, but for now, here are some of my current favorite winter decor ideas...
